Hamas and the Palestinian

Have you ever thought about the similarities and differences between the Palestine under Yasser Arafat and Hamas?
Under both administrations, Palestinian suffers tremendous hardship. Corruptions are rampant. Suicide bombers and skirmishes with Jewish troops are daily occurrence. Shortfall of money, food, proper housing and clean water are typical. Jewish tanks move around the Palestinian cities to kill the terrorists but ended up crippling the innocents. Despite that, during the Yasser Arafat leadership, the Palestinian received huge aid, loans and donations from Western countries. Under Hamas leadership, the aid is suspended. Why?
If we are to read the articles in the media, American adventure into the Middle East is based on the goals to spread democracy and end the centuries of conflicts between the two historical enemies. So much of bullshit.
Hamas is portrayed to be the hard liner organization that does not recognize the state of Israel. Hamas is not acknowledged by the global community because of their commitment to wipe out the Jews from their land. This reason makes the Western countries to stop their fund. However, we need to be aware that Hamas is democratically elected by the Palestinian. The election process is fair and square. Regardless of the policies of Hamas, they represent the aspiration and the self determination of the Palestinian. As such, the non recognition of Hamas, I feel, is a big betrayal of the principle of democracy.
Actually what Israel and the Western countries (the American) really want is not democracy, but rather a weak Palestinian government that do whatever the Israeli and American wanted. Of course it is hard for them to accept the painful reality. Palestinian is not Indonesia which can easily bow before the pressure from militarily and economically stronger country. Palestinian has showed and proved that they are a strong people, with a sense of pride that will not cave in to any foreign demands. In short, the interest of the state is the top priority.
Now let us explore about the intention to settle the bloody conflict. Any settlement needs a two party commitments and building of goodwill. The reality is that with the backing of third party, who can influence the international community, Israel send its troops deeper into Palestinian territories. Pretending to maintain the security that Palestinian government cannot offer, Jewish troops launch their hidden operations to eliminate the “terrorists”. They may be the terrorist before the eyes of the Israel and American, but from the Palestinian perspective, they are the heroes that fight for freedom and independence.
Killing of more Palestinian only create further animosity rather than peace. Erecting 10 meters high barriers is merely constructing a wall rather than securing peace. Isolating the Palestinian will not induce Hamas to kneel and bow down. We have the reason to be skeptical of imminent peace accord since the Israeli and the American do not want it. After all, they wanted the whole chunk of land and deny the Palestinian the rights to exist.
